Gelato is free to join. The Free plan has no monthly fee, no commission and no minimum order. You pay Gelato for each product you sell and for its shipping, after your customer orders.
Gelato's pricing page says you can sign up for free and only pay for what you sell, with no upfront fees, no commission and no minimum orders. [1]
So "free" covers the account. Every order still costs money:
One white hoodie, size M, delivered to a US customer costs $28.98 on the Free plan and $23.37 on Gelato+, before VAT.

Gelato's plans page lists Free at $0 with 2 ecommerce stores and 2 account users, Gelato+ at $29.99 a month or $19.99 a month billed yearly with unlimited stores and users and up to 33% off products, and Platinum at custom pricing. [2]
Gelato's own pages disagree on the Gelato+ limits. The plans page says unlimited stores and users. The help center's plan comparison, updated May 19, 2026, says 10 stores and 5 users. If you need more than 10 stores, confirm with Gelato before you subscribe.
Gelato's help center compares the plans as Free with 2 connected stores and 2 users, and Gelato+ with 10 connected stores and 5 users, at $29.99 a month or $239.88 a year. It lists live rates and express shipping in Shopify stores as a Gelato+ feature. [3]
Gelato+ is priced in local currency. In euros it costs €27.99 a month or €19.99 a month billed yearly; in pounds, £24.99 or £16.66. Gelato adds local tax to the subscription for customers in the United States and Norway.
Gelato lists Gelato+ at $29.99 a month or $19.99 a month billed annually ($239.88 a year), €27.99 or €19.99, and £24.99 or £16.66, and says applicable local taxes are added for customers in the USA and Norway. [4]
The trial lasts 14 days. You enter billing details to start it and are not charged during it. Product discounts do not apply until you pay.
Gelato offers a 14-day free trial of Gelato+ that requires billing information but no charge during the trial, and states that product discounts are available only to subscribed Gelato+ users, not during the free trial. [5]
We priced Gelato's bestselling hoodie, the Classic Unisex Pullover Hoodie (Gildan 18500), in white, size M, with DTG printing. We set the product page's "Delivery to" field to four countries and recorded what it showed on October 6, 2026.

Prices exclude VAT. Shipping is the lowest rate the page shows, which is economy. Gelato calls its delivery times and shipping costs estimates.
Germany and the Netherlands both pay in euros, yet the same hoodie costs more to deliver to the Netherlands.

Both countries are priced in euros. On the Free plan the hoodie costs €29.30 delivered to the Netherlands and €25.25 delivered to Germany: 29.30 ÷ 25.25 = 1.16, or 16% more. On Gelato+ the German price falls to €20.24 while the Dutch price stays at €29.30: 29.30 ÷ 20.24 = 1.45, or 45% more.
The gap is not about where the hoodie is made. Gelato's product page lists both the Netherlands and Germany among the 13 countries where this hoodie is produced. Gelato does not explain the price difference, and we do not guess at it.
Where Gelato+ applies, it took 26.0% off this hoodie in all three countries: $5.61 in the US, €5.01 in Germany and £4.47 in the UK. That is less than the "up to 33%" Gelato advertises. In the Netherlands it took off nothing.
The discount depends on the delivery country
Gelato+ product discounts apply only to orders delivered to 11 countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Spain, Australia, Norway and Denmark. A seller whose customers are in the Netherlands, Poland or Belgium pays for Gelato+ without the discount on those orders.
Gelato lists the countries where Gelato+ product discounts apply as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Spain, Australia, Norway and Denmark, and says eligibility and discount types are set by the promotional communication sent to each customer. [7]
Gelato says Gelato+ subscribers receive up to 33% off eligible products, that the discounts apply only in selected countries, and that they are not available during the trial. [8]
How many hoodies a month cover the subscription? Divide the monthly fee by the saving on one hoodie, and round up.

4-6 hoodies a month for Gelato+ to pay for itself (United States, Germany, United Kingdom)
The saving per hoodie is the product price minus the Gelato+ product price on the same page. The monthly fee divided by that saving, rounded up, gives 4 hoodies a month on yearly billing and 6 on monthly billing in all three countries. The calculation assumes Gelato+ does not change the shipping price, which we could not see without a subscription.
Two limits apply to this math. Gelato says discount eligibility is set per account, so your prices can differ from what the public page shows. And the discount varies by product: on the same October 6 visit, Gelato's Heavyweight Unisex Crewneck T-shirt (Gildan 5000) showed a starting price of €8.09 both with and without Gelato+ for delivery to the United States. Check your best sellers before you count on the saving.

Gelato explains that flat-rate shipping is calculated as the first product price plus the additional product price times the quantity minus one, that rates vary by region, shipping method and product type, and that live shipping rates are available through a manual order in the Gelato dashboard or through the API. What the table means for a hoodie seller:
We did not compare hoodie prices across the three. We did not check whether Printify's or Printful's discounts depend on the delivery country. Price the same product for your main markets on each site before you choose.

We were not subscribed to Gelato+. The size comparison uses Gelato's downloadable price list for delivery to the United States, in euros, from the same day. The T-shirt example comes from the "Goes well together" section of the same product page.
Where sources disagree. Gelato's plans page lists unlimited stores and users on Gelato+. Its help center comparison (May 19, 2026) and trial article (March 4, 2026) say 10 stores and 5 users. We show both. Gelato advertises discounts of "up to 33%"; the hoodie we priced showed 26.0%.
Calculations. Totals add the product price and the lowest shipping rate shown. The Gelato+ break-even divides the monthly fee in each currency by the saving on one hoodie and rounds up.
What we did not check. We did not place an order, buy samples or subscribe to Gelato+. We could not see express or extra-item shipping prices, or whether Gelato+ changes shipping, without starting an order. Offers set per account can differ from the public page.
